We started at square one and rethought how crayons are made, and how a 21st century crayon would be made. Natural waxes behave differently in manufacture and in usage than paraffin and other industrial additives. We watched children draw and talked to teachers and students about what they wanted and valued in a crayon.
We evaluated dozens of waxes in hundreds of experiments, until we arrived at the final Filana™ formula. We sent out test samples to artists, educators, and teachers around the world and the endorsements came back glowing with enthusiasm for our crayons.
We also had to ensure that our crayons would be long-lasting and stable. We made numerous tests to guarantee that our crayons would be just as lively and fun to use years down the road as they are now.
Our crayons are completely non-toxic and safe for children. Filana™ crayons are made with natural waxes and over 20% certified organic beeswax. We never use petroleum waxes or paraffin. All our ingredients are GMO free.
As a manufacturer of children's crayons, safety is our goal. All Filana™ crayons have been evaluated by an independent toxicologist and found to contain no known toxic substances in sufficient quantities to be harmful to the human body, even if ingested or inhaled.
Filana™ crayons conform to ASTM D-4236 standard, which indicates Filana™ crayons are certified nontoxic and meet or exceed specific quality standards.
Filana™ crayons are CPSIA compliant. They have been tested by an independent laboratory and are certified to be compliant with the the CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act). Click here to view the CPSIA Certification of Conformity.
Our crayons are not for children under 3 years of age, as crayons are a choking hazard. Please use with an appropriate level of supervision.

Filana™ crayons come in two styles:
- Stick crayons: 1/2" (12.5mm) in diameter and 3 3/8" (86mm) long.
- Block crayons: 1 11/16" (43mm) long, 15/16" wide (24mm) and 1/2" (12.5mm) deep.
